For several weeks now we have reported the sustained rumors that Barack and Michelle are heading for divorce.
While none of the parties commented on the situation directly, there seemed to be several signs that something had changed within Obamas’ marriage.
For starters, Barack played several solo public appearances at a time when he must have caught the wind of the rumors.
Observers figured he must have known how the public would react, and the move could therefore be his subtle way of confirming that he and Michelle were heading for Splitville.
But during a recent performance at Sophia Bush’s podcast, Michelle divorced rumors.
She pointed out quite reasonably that she and Barack are both very busy people, and it makes perfect sense that they would attend events separately from time to time.
Michelle embraces the force in ‘No’
In a speech with Bush, Michelle revealed that in recent years she has been forced to reject more invitations. And apparently she has found the experience.
“The interesting thing is that when I say” no “, mostly, people like” I get it, “and I’m ok,” explained Michelle according to page six.
“And that’s the thing that we as women struggle with – disappointing people,” she continued.
“So much that people they couldn’t even understand that I made a choice for myself that they had to assume that my husband and I stand out.”
From there, Michelle laughed the idea that her marriage was about to end, and rejected the rumors as a result of small minds and their inability to cope with the fact that she is “an adult woman who just makes a set of decisions for herself.”
“But that’s what society does to us,” she said.
“We are actually finally starting to go,” what am I doing? Who am I doing this for? “And if it doesn’t fit into that kind of stereotypical of what people think we should do, it will be marked as something negative and terrible.”
Yes, it seems that Michelle was just starting to pursue her own interests – she launched a new podcast with her brother last month – and because of that, the whole world assumed she was divorcing.
Her comments probably don’t put the rumors to bed completely.
But so far, we feel perfectly comfortable with declaring that there is no reason to believe that these two call it quirs.
