Elton John reveals that he has lost sight

Back in December, Elton John revealed that he had lost sight.

The unexpected revelation came when Elton turned to the crowd at a charity performance of Devil carries Prada Musical for which he wrote the scoring.

The rock icon suggested that his vision worsened to the point that he was unable to see last night’s performance.

Elton John reveals vision loss for London -Public

The surprising news came when Elton praised the musical’s role and crew.

“As some of you may know, I’ve had trouble and now I’ve lost sight. I haven’t been able to see the performance but I’ve been good Daily Mail.

“To my husband, who has been my rock because I have not been able to get to many of the previews, because as you know, I have lost sight, so it is hard for me to see it, but I love to hear it,” he continued according to a Tiktok video (per page six).

“And boy, it sounded good tonight! OK! Thanks for coming!”

A gradual loss

Elton first hinted at questions involving his view back in September 2024.

At that time, the 77-year-old issued a statement in which he revealed that he had “limited vision in one eye” after treating a “serious eye infection” during the summer.

“I heal, but it is an extremely slow process and it will take some time before the sight returns to the affected eye,” he wrote.

Last month, during an interview with Robin Roberts from Good morning AmericaElton revealed that his condition had worsened.

“Unfortunately, I lost my sight in my right eye in July because I had an infection in southern France, and it’s been four months now since I haven’t been able to see,” he said.

“And my left eye is not the biggest, so there is hope and encouragement that it will be ok, but I’m a little stuck at the moment …”

But now Elton suggests he has lost sight in both eyes.

What is next for Elton John?

Although he retired from touring in 2023, Elton continues to lead an active and high profile life.

In addition to his work in the theater, he supports several charitable causes, and he recently joined Prince Harry and other celebrities in their fight against tabloid overrun.

The music legend has not offered any details about the nature of the infection that costs him his vision, or the ways in which his condition can affect his future plans.
